Best Security for Sheds & Garages

By | January 6, 2014

It is no secret that outbuildings such as Sheds, Garages & Barns are probably the most burgled buildings around. This is mainly due to the fact that most Burglars & Criminals work on a well known tried & tested theory:

RISK & REWARD

Risk, they will consider what risk they are taking by forcing entry into a specific building:

  • Does it look like it has an alarm?
  • Is it securely locked?
  • Can they see any other signs of security (manual or electrical)?
  • Is it isolated?

Reward, what possible reward may there be? If they can see (or have seen during the day) valuable items such as Quad Bikes, Motorcycles, Push Bikes, Ride on Lawn Mowers or Electrical Tools they will be more inclined to take a bigger risk than if they cannot see what is inside.

Our starting advice would be:

  • Fit a Alarm
  • Include a visible Siren
  • Make the entry points as secure as possible with good locks or chains
  • Blank off all windows using paint, paper, cardboard, wood or steel
  • Don’t leave the doors wide open whilst you are there
  • Possible add small dummy cctv camera’s
  • Possible fit a security sign
  • Keep the building relatively maintained, making it look more likely to have security.

Our most popular Alarm for Sheds is the battery powered UltraPIR which will contact key-holders by Telephone & Text.
