The full terms below explain the details. If you buy as a consumer, nothing in them affects your legal rights.

1. About us and these terms

1.1 Who we are. Ultra Secure Direct is a trading name of Ultra Secure Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 04680858, with its registered office at Henge Barn, Pury Hill Business Park, Alderton Road, Towcester, Northamptonshire, England, NN12 7LS. Our VAT number is GB 808117836. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Ultra Secure Limited. Our distribution centre and technical team are in France, run by Ultra Secure France, 8 rue Nicolas Appert, 44118 La Chevrolière, France, which prepares, tests and ships orders and provides technical support for us. Your contract is always with Ultra Secure Limited.

1.2 How to contact us. The quickest way to reach us is our contact page, or by email at info@ultrasecuredirect.com. When these terms say "in writing", email counts. If we need to contact you, we'll use the email address you gave us with your order.

1.3 What these terms cover. These terms apply to every order placed on ultrasecuredirect.com. Please read them before you order: by placing an order you accept them. We recommend you save or print a copy. The contract is in English.

1.4 Consumers and trade customers. You are a consumer if you buy mainly for purposes outside your trade, business, craft or profession. You are a trade customer if you buy for a business. Most of these terms apply to everyone; where a section applies only to consumers or only to trade customers, it says so. Section 9 sets out the extra terms for trade customers.

1.5 Changes. We may update these terms from time to time. The version on our website when you place your order is the one that applies to that order.

2. Our products

2.1 Descriptions. We take care to describe and photograph our products accurately. Images are for illustration: colours may vary slightly from screen to screen, and packaging may differ from the photos. Manufacturers sometimes update their products; we may supply an updated version where the change doesn't affect the way the product works or what it does.

2.2 Choosing the right product. Our product pages and guides are there to help you choose. If you're unsure whether a product suits your property or your project, ask us before ordering: we're happy to advise. If you tell us about a particular purpose and we confirm a product is suitable for it, we'll stand by that advice.

2.3 Wireless range. Wireless ranges given on our website are typical figures measured in open conditions. In real installations, range depends on the building and the site: thick walls, metal structures, gate posts, dense vegetation and other radio equipment can all reduce it. That's why we recommend testing wireless products where you plan to install them before fixing them in place: if they don't perform as you need, our free 30-day returns (section 6) cover you.

2.4 Special orders. Some products are made or adapted to order, for example posts and chain cut to your length, specially adapted electronic systems, or kits assembled and configured to your specification. We'll confirm the details and timing by email before we make them. Because they are made for you, special orders can't be returned for a change of mind (see section 6.7), although they are of course covered if they are faulty.

3. Ordering

3.1 Placing an order. You can order through our website. Before you submit your order, the checkout shows a summary of the products, the delivery charge and the total price, and lets you correct any mistakes.

3.2 When the contract is made. After you order, we'll email you to acknowledge it. That email does not mean we've accepted your order. The contract between us is made when we email you to confirm that your order has been despatched.

3.3 If we can't accept your order. We may not be able to accept an order, for example if a product is unavailable, if there is an error in the price or description, if we can't deliver to your address, or if payment is not authorised. If so, we'll tell you by email and refund anything you've paid in full, as soon as possible and within 14 days.

3.4 Pricing errors. We check our prices carefully, but mistakes can happen. If we find an error in the price of something you've ordered, we'll contact you to ask whether you want to continue at the correct price or cancel the order with a full refund.

3.5 Part deliveries. If part of your order is not in stock, we'll let you know. We may send the available items first and the rest when ready, at no extra delivery cost to you.

3.6 Age. You must be at least 18 years old to place an order.

4. Prices and payment

4.1 Prices. Our prices are in pounds sterling (£) and include VAT at the current UK rate. The delivery charge is shown at checkout, before you pay.

4.2 The price at checkout is all you pay. For delivery to the UK, we take care of the shipping formalities from our distribution centre in France: there is nothing more to pay on delivery, and DHL will not ask you for any fees.

4.3 Price changes. Our prices may change, but changes don't affect orders already placed: you pay the price shown when you ordered (subject to section 3.4).

4.4 How to pay. You can pay by Visa, Mastercard or American Express, or with PayPal. Card payments are handled by our secure payment provider: we never see or store your full card details. Payment is taken when you place your order. If you'd prefer to pay by bank transfer, contact us and we'll send you the details.

4.5 VAT invoices. A VAT invoice is available for every order. If you need one, or need it in a company's name, let us know.

5. Delivery

5.1 Where your order comes from. Every order is prepared and shipped from our global distribution centre in France and delivered by DHL, with tracking. You can follow your parcel as soon as it leaves our distribution centre.

5.2 Delivery times. Products in stock are despatched promptly and delivered within 3–5 working days of despatch to GB mainland addresses. "Working days" means Monday to Friday, excluding UK public holidays. Delivery times are estimates. Special orders and assembled systems may need a little longer: we'll confirm the timing by email.

5.3 Faster delivery. We don't offer an express service. If you need your order sooner, faster delivery may be possible on request, depending on your order (for example assembled systems, or products containing batteries, which follow specific transport rules). Email us before ordering and we'll look into it. We can't guarantee faster delivery, and we'll confirm any arrangement, including any extra charge, before you order.

5.4 Delivery charges.

  • GB mainland: £14 (including VAT) for orders under £150; free for orders of £150 or more (including VAT).
  • Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands and Islands, the Isle of Wight, the Isles of Scilly, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands: delivery charges and times may differ. Please contact us for a quote before ordering. If an order for one of these areas needs a different delivery charge from the one shown at checkout, we'll contact you before despatch, and you can choose to cancel for a full refund.
  • Outside the UK: please contact us.

5.5 Signature and safe places. Most deliveries need a signature. If you ask for your parcel to be left without a signature (for example in a safe place or with a neighbour), it counts as delivered when it is left as you asked.

5.6 Check your delivery. Please check your parcel when it arrives and tell us within 7 days about any damage or missing items, so we can put it right quickly and claim from DHL. If you're a consumer, this doesn't affect your legal rights if you tell us later.

5.7 Late delivery. If something beyond our control delays your delivery, we'll let you know and do our best to keep the delay short (see section 11). If you're a consumer and we don't deliver within 30 days of the contract being made (or by a date we agreed), you have legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which can include ending the contract and getting a full refund.

5.8 Risk and ownership. If you're a consumer, the products are your responsibility from the time they are delivered to you or to someone you nominate, and they become yours once delivered and paid for in full. For trade customers, see section 9.5.

6. Free 30-day returns

6.1 Your 30 days. You can return any product within 30 days of the day you receive it, for any reason, and get a full refund. If your order arrives in several deliveries, the 30 days run from the day you receive the last one. By law, consumers have 14 days to cancel an online purchase (under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013): our 30 days include and extend that right, and we apply the same refund rules to the whole period. We also offer 30-day returns to trade customers, as a goodwill policy.

6.2 How to return. Tell us within the 30 days through our contact page or by email, with your order number. You don't need to give a reason, though it helps us improve. You can also use the model cancellation form at the end of these terms, but you don't have to.

6.3 Returns are free. We arrange the return with you by email, at no cost to you. Please send the products back within 14 days of telling us, packed securely (in the original packaging if you still have it).

6.4 Condition of returned goods. Please return products complete, with all parts, accessories and manuals, and undamaged. You're welcome to unpack and try a product, as you would in a shop, to see what it is, how it works and whether it suits you, including testing the wireless range on site. If a product has been handled beyond what is necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning (for example if it has been fixed in place, drilled, wired in, painted or damaged), we may reduce your refund to reflect the loss in its value. We'll always explain any reduction.

6.5 Your refund. We refund the full price of the products, plus the original standard delivery charge. If you chose a more expensive delivery option (such as faster delivery on request), we refund the cost of standard delivery. We refund you within 14 days of the day we receive the products back or, if earlier, the day you provide evidence that you've sent them. If you cancel before your order has been despatched, we refund you within 14 days of you telling us. Refunds go back to the payment method you used, and you won't be charged any fee for the refund.

6.6 Cancelling before delivery. You can cancel an order at any time before it's delivered by contacting us. If it has already been despatched, we'll arrange its return free of charge as above.

6.7 Exceptions. Change-of-mind returns don't apply to:

  • products made to your specification or clearly personalised, such as posts and chain cut to length, specially adapted systems, and kits assembled or configured to your requirements (see section 2.4);
  • sealed products which are not suitable for return for health protection or hygiene reasons once unsealed, where this is stated on the product page;
  • sealed software, or digital content such as activation codes, once unsealed or used with your agreement.

Faulty products are always covered, whatever their type (see section 7).

6.8 After 30 days. After 30 days we can't accept change-of-mind returns for a refund. If you have unused products you no longer need, get in touch: we'll consider each request and may be able to offer a credit note. Faulty products are covered by section 7.

7. Faulty products, warranty and your legal rights

7.1 Our 1-year warranty. Every product we sell comes with our 1-year warranty, starting from the day it is delivered. If a fault appears under normal use within that year, we'll repair or replace the product free of charge, including the cost of sending it back to us and returning it to you. If we can't repair or replace it, we'll refund you. A repaired or replacement product is covered for the rest of the original warranty period.

7.2 What the warranty doesn't cover. Accidental damage, misuse or neglect; incorrect installation or wiring; damage from causes outside the product's specification (for example power surges, or water ingress beyond the product's rating); repairs or modifications not carried out or approved by us; normal wear and tear; and the normal running down of batteries. If we find that a returned product is not faulty, or that the fault is not covered, we'll explain why and may offer a repair at a quoted price.

7.3 How to claim. Contact us with your order number and a description of the problem (photos or a short video help). We'll often be able to solve it remotely; if not, we'll arrange the return of the product with you, free of charge.

7.4 Your legal rights as a consumer. Our warranty is in addition to your legal rights, and does not reduce them. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, products must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. If they are not:

  • within 30 days of delivery, you can reject them and get a full refund;
  • within 6 months of delivery, you're entitled to a repair or a replacement; if that's not possible, or it doesn't fix the problem, you can get a refund or a price reduction. A fault that appears within 6 months is presumed to have been there at delivery, unless we can show otherwise;
  • after 6 months, you may need to show that the fault was present at delivery. You can bring a claim up to 6 years after delivery (5 years in Scotland).

For more information, visit Citizens Advice (or Consumer Advice Scotland if you live in Scotland).

7.5 Trade customers. For trade customers, the warranty and remedies in this section are set out in section 9.7.

8. Installation and lawful use

8.1 DIY installation. Our products are designed for DIY installation, and come with instructions and guidance. Please read and follow them. Where a product is connected to the mains or requires electrical work, the work must comply with the wiring regulations and building regulations that apply, and should be carried out by a qualified electrician where those rules require it.

8.2 Incorrect installation. We are not responsible for loss or damage caused by incorrect installation, or by using a product in a way its instructions don't allow, unless it results from a fault in the product or an error in our instructions or advice.

8.3 What security products can do. Alarms, detectors, cameras and other security products help deter and detect intruders and reduce risk, but no product can guarantee that a break-in, theft or damage will never happen. They are not a substitute for insurance. If your insurer requires a particular standard of alarm or installation, please check with them before ordering.

8.4 Using CCTV lawfully. If a camera captures images or audio beyond the boundary of your property (for example a public footpath, a road or a neighbour's garden), data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) applies to you. The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) publishes guidance on using domestic CCTV, including signage, privacy masking and how to respond to requests. Positioning cameras and using recordings lawfully is your responsibility.

8.5 Sirens and alarms. Audible alarms that sound for long periods, or go off repeatedly, can be a statutory noise nuisance. Set sirens to stop after a limited time (20 minutes is the usual guidance), maintain your system to avoid false alarms, and follow any guidance from your local council.

8.6 Posts and bollards. Before installing parking posts or bollards, check that you have any permission you need, particularly on shared land or near a public highway.

9. Trade customers

This section applies only to trade customers. If anything in it conflicts with the rest of these terms, this section takes priority for trade customers.

9.1 Trade accounts. Business customers can buy through the website like any customer. We also offer trade accounts, subject to approval. When we approve an account, we'll confirm its terms in writing.

9.2 Credit accounts. Where we agree to give credit, we'll set a credit limit and payment terms (usually 30 to 45 days from the date of invoice), payable by bank transfer or direct debit. Credit is subject to satisfactory credit checks, and we may review, reduce or withdraw it at any time. If an invoice is overdue, we may suspend further deliveries until it is paid.

9.3 Late payment. We may charge interest and compensation on overdue invoices under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

9.4 Purchase orders. We accept official purchase orders by email for approved accounts. These terms apply to every trade order, and any terms on your purchase order or other documents do not apply unless we agree to them in writing.

9.5 Risk and ownership. Risk in the products passes to you on delivery. Ownership passes to you only when we have received payment in full for them. Until then, you must keep the products in good condition and identifiable as ours, although you may resell or use them in the normal course of your business. If payment is overdue, we may ask for the products back.

9.6 Special orders and cancellations. Trade orders for non-stock or specially ordered products can't be cancelled once we've confirmed them.

9.7 Warranty and remedies. Our 1-year warranty (section 7.1) applies to trade customers. Our responsibility for faulty products is to repair or replace them, or refund the price, at our choice. To the extent the law allows, this replaces any other terms implied by law about the quality or fitness for purpose of the products.

9.8 Professional installations. If you install products for others, you are responsible for choosing products suitable for each installation and for meeting any standards, regulations and certification requirements that apply to your work.

9.9 Notification of problems. Please report damage or shortages within 7 days of delivery, and products invoiced but not received within 30 days of the invoice date.

10. Our responsibility to you

10.1 What we never exclude. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for breach of the terms implied by law about our right to sell the products, for defective products under the Consumer Protection Act 1987, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.

10.2 If you're a consumer. If we fail to comply with these terms, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach or our negligence. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it is obvious that it will happen, or if we both knew it might happen when the contract was made. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable. We supply products to consumers for domestic and private use: if you use them for business purposes, we are not liable for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.

10.3 If you're a trade customer. Subject to section 10.1, we are not liable for any loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or data, or for any indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability in connection with an order is limited to the price paid for that order. Delivery dates for trade orders are estimates, and we are not liable for losses caused by late delivery.

11. Events outside our control

We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, transport or carrier disruption, industrial action, fire, flood, power or network failures, cyber attacks, shortages from our suppliers, or actions by governments or authorities. If such an event affects your order, we'll let you know and do what we reasonably can to limit its effects. If there is a substantial delay, you can cancel and we'll refund you for anything you've paid for and not received.

12. Your personal data

We use your personal data to process and deliver your order (which includes sharing your delivery details with DHL and your payment with our payment providers), to provide customer service and to meet our legal obligations, in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. We may invite you to review your purchase. We only send you marketing where the law allows, and you can unsubscribe at any time. For full details, including your rights over your data, see our privacy notice.

13. Intellectual property and software

The content of our website (text, photos, guides and designs) belongs to us or our licensors, and may not be copied without our permission. Where a product includes software, firmware or a companion app, you receive a licence to use it with that product, on the terms of its publisher; ownership of the software is not transferred to you.

14. Complaints

If something has gone wrong, please tell us through our contact page, with your order number. We'll acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to resolve it within 14 days. If we can't resolve a complaint, we'll explain our final position in writing and let you know about any alternative dispute resolution (ADR) options. You can also get free advice from Citizens Advice (Consumer Advice Scotland in Scotland).

15. General

15.1 Governing law. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you're a consumer, you can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales; if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring them in your local courts. Trade customers agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

15.2 Other terms. If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our agreement. Only you and we have rights under this contract: no one else can enforce it under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999. For trade customers, these terms (with any written trade account terms) are the entire agreement between us.
