Frequently Asked Questions: Infrared Beams

Frequently Asked Questions: Infrared Beams

Are they easy to Install?

Yes, our infrared beams are designed to facilitate an easier installation process for you. They require no wired connections, which significantly reduces the time needed for installation. Additionally, the beams are equipped with a comprehensive mounting system that accommodates various surfaces, such as round posts and flat supports

In addition to a bubble level for installations on level surfaces, the 1B and 2B beams feature a digital screen that displays the alignment value, which ranges from 000 to 999. A higher number indicates better calibration, though achieving a value close to 999 is not possible. A minimum value between 250 and 300 is necessary to ensure the beams function correctly. For installations where the beams are more than 70 meters apart, it is recommended to have two people to facilitate the alignment process.

Regarding the 1B-60 beams, given that the maximum distance between the beams is 60 meters, they do not include a digital screen; the bubble level alone is sufficient. A light indicator provides information about the pairing status of the beams.

Note: It is recommended to install the beams (if possible) at a minimum height of 70 cm to prevent false alarms from small animals on the ground.

Do the beams withstand harsh weather conditions?

Yes, our solar-powered infrared beams are suitable for outdoor use. They are IP66 certified, which guarantees complete protection against dust and resistance to strong water jets from all directions. This certification ensures they are safeguarded against harsh weather conditions and environmental challenges.

Additionally, their sturdy, durable casing allows them to operate reliably and lastingly, even in the most demanding environments.

How do infrared beams work?

Their operation is simple and effective. The beams project a pair of infrared beams (or two or three pairs, depending on the chosen model). When a pair of beams is interrupted by a passing individual, vehicle, etc., the beams send a detection signal to other receiver elements in the security system (such as a plug in receiver, GSM transmitter, siren, etc.).

Both beams must be cut simultaneously for an alarm signal to be sent to the receiver, eliminating the risk of false triggers caused by small animals, dead leaves, etc.

Note: The beams operate both day and night, and the beams are invisible to the naked eye.

How many meters can you separate the beams?

BEAMS_100M

The distance between your two infrared beams can extend up to 100 meters, and up to 60 meters for the 1B-60 model, providing considerable flexibility for installation setups tailored to your environment.

For example, with four sets of infrared beams (1B or 2B), you can secure a property, be it a farm, construction site, warehouse, or residence covering up to 10,000 square meters. You can expand this setup further as there is no limit to the number of beams that can be incorporated into a system.

Note: Make sure there are no obstacles between your two beams. The beams require a perfectly clear field.

What is the detection signal transmission range?

The transmitting beam is equipped with an alert signal transmitter, capable of relaying detection information up to 900 meters (in line of sight) to other components in the system, such as a chime, GSM transmitter, siren, and more.

Note: The presence of obstacles (regardless of their shape or nature) between the barrier and the signal receiver can hinder the signal transmission, thus reducing the detection signal's transmission range.

How are the beams powered?

All our infrared beams are fitted with solar panels to ensure complete energy autonomy. These panels convert the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays into electrical energy, which is then stored in an integrated rechargeable lithium battery.

This setup allows the beams to function independently, even in cloudy weather, making them suitable for areas with less sunshine. Solar energy generation only requires a light intensity of 1,800 lux approximately, the intensity on a rainy, cloudy day, which is around 2,000 lux. Should the need arise to occasionally recharge the batteries, the beams are equipped with an emergency charging port (note: charging block is sold separately).

Note: We advise cleaning the solar panels of your beams once a year. Any opacity on their surfaces can reduce ultraviolet absorption.

what sizes are the beams available in?

BEAMS_INVISIBLE

Our wireless infrared beams are available in four sizes, with one pair ("1B" and "1B-60") or two pairs ("2B") of beams. Three barrier sizes suit all situations. The beams are separated by 6 centimeters from each other (4 centimeters for the 1B-60). The infrared beams are entirely invisible to the naked eye.

Can we cross the beams?

Of course! One benefit of infrared technology is that the beams are invisible and can’t be touched, so intruders won’t detect them. Plus, if the beams need to cross paths because of your environment it’s no issue. This makes setting them up very flexible.

Are the beams compatible with other security systems?

Yes, the wireless infrared beams can be paired with other security accessories (such as a plug in receiver, GSM transmitter, siren, etc.) to create a comprehensive, customizable, and scalable security solution. The "2B" version of the beams includes a powerful siren (95 decibels) for a local deterrent alert directly at the detection site.
