General PIR Advice:
One of the most important issues in the operation of a PIR, is in choosing the correct location. A sensor mounted in a unsuitable location has the potential to cause false triggers and reduce performance.
The main guide lines in choosing the best location are as follows:
- Mount the PIR into a corner of a room.
- Avoid heat spots from bright lamps suddenly turning on or off.
- Do not install immediately above a radiator.
- Do not install in a glass roof conservatory.
- If possible, choose a corner of the room which is visible from an outside window, the PIR also creates a visual deterrent.
